The 2.9% + 30¢ component is Stripe's published US card rate; the 1% is ours, charged only on money that moves through your page.
The fee anchor this trade knows is GlossGenius: flat 2.6% on every card, with plans at $28–$168/mo and no free tier. Their rate is lower than ours. Their subscription isn't. Where the line falls depends on your volume — so here's the line.
One honest asymmetry the sliders can't show: GlossGenius is a point-of-sale — the model assumes your whole book rides their rate. Here, many artists put only deposits and balance links through the page and take the rest however they already do, at $0. Compare the volume you'd actually route, not your whole month.
Some apps charge your clients for the privilege of booking you — $2.35 per booking on StyleSeat (their own pricing post), 95¢ per transaction on theCut (their help center). StyleSeat also takes 30% of a new client's first visit (capped at $50) as a marketplace fee (help center) — even when your own Instagram sent them.

That category of problem is structural — it can only happen when the platform sits between you and your balance. We don't.

Flat 2.6% beats 3.9% + 30¢ on raw processing — once your through-app card volume is high enough that the rate gap outruns the $28 subscription, GlossGenius wins the processing math (the calculator above shows your line). Square's free plan runs 3.3% + 30¢ online (POSUSA, post-Oct 2025) — also under our rate, with no subscription. What the 1% buys here instead: deposits collected before the slot confirms under a policy your client ticked a box to accept, a Proof Pack when someone fights it, a dispute response filed for you, clients who never pay to book, and a client list that exports any day you want. If raw rate is the whole decision, we're honestly not it.
