This policy describes what information TakingClients ("we," "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We build tools for independent service professionals ("artists") and the clients who book with them, and we try to collect the minimum needed to run the service well.
Information we collect
- Waitlist signups: name, email, craft, Instagram handle, city, and the link you'd like to claim.
- Artist accounts (when the service launches): account and business details (name, email, phone number, business name, services and prices, portfolio images), and payment account information handled by our payment processor.
- Booking information: when a client books with an artist — name, contact details, appointment details, notes the artist keeps, and signed consent/waiver forms where applicable.
- Payment information: processed by Stripe. Card numbers go directly to Stripe; we never store full card numbers on our servers.
- Technical basics: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) used for security and reliability. We use only essential cookies — no advertising trackers.
How we use information
- To provide the service: artist sites, scheduling, reminders, deposits and payments, and client records.
- To send transactional messages: booking confirmations, appointment reminders, receipts, and account notices by email and/or text message.
- To operate, secure, and improve the platform, and to comply with legal obligations.
Text messaging (SMS)
If you provide a phone number and consent to receive texts (for example, appointment confirmations and reminders), we send them through our messaging provider. Message frequency varies with your bookings. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help.
How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the service providers that make the product work — Amazon Web Services (hosting, email, and text delivery), Stripe (payments) — and as required by law. When you book with an artist, that artist sees the booking information you provide to them; artists own their client lists.
Data retention & your choices
We keep information for as long as an account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal requirements. You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your information by emailing hello@takingclients.com. Artists can export their client list at any time — it's theirs.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll post the update here with a new effective date and, for significant changes affecting account holders, notify you by email.
